Should you wear a tuxedo, a three-piece suit, or a relaxed linen ensemble? How long should your trousers be? And how do you ensure your look complements the bride without looking like a costume?

Here are the foundational sartorial principles to keep in mind when designing your wedding look:
1. Respect the Venue, Time, and Dress Code
The foundation of a great wedding suit lies in its context:
- Evening or Black-Tie Weddings: A classic Tuxedo (Smoking) in black or midnight blue with satin lapels and a bow tie is timeless.
- Formal Daytime Weddings: A classic dark navy or charcoal grey suit—or a traditional Morning Coat (Chaqué)—sets an elevated tone.
- Destination & Summer Weddings: Soft, unconstructed tailoring in breathable fabrics like high-twist wool, wool-linen blends, or wool-silk blends offers effortless sophistication without overheating.
2. Proportions and Fit Reign Supreme
No matter how exquisite the fabric is, poor fit ruins a suit.
- The Jacket: Should hug your shoulders cleanly with no pull or diagonal wrinkles across the back. The jacket hem should comfortably cover your seat.
- Sleeve Length: We advise that your shirt cuff peeks out roughly 1 cm to a maximum of 2 cm beyond your jacket sleeve.
- The Trousers: Aim for a clean drape with a slight or medium break over your shoe for a polished, modern look. High-waisted trousers with side adjusters offer both elegance and comfort throughout the night.
